August 31, 2015, San Juan – As part of the efforts to continue increasing the number of cruise passengers who visit the island, this month the Tourism Company coordinated the Excellence Program training for tour operators offered by the company AQUILA, for company tour operators that serve cruises in Puerto Rico. This international certification program, is specifically designed to train cruise tour guides, it includes training in the areas of Excellence in Tour Operators, Tour Guide Excellence and Port Excellence, all designed to help key people in cruise destinations around the world to achieve excellence in their ports, tours, guides and businesses. Currently, Puerto Rico is the only destination in the Caribbean that has offered this training to all guides and tour operators working directly with cruise lines.

“Congratulations to Rico Sun Tour Company, Tour COOP and United Tour Guide (UTG) tour operators who took Aquila’s Center for Cruise Excellence’s intensive training program and are now receiving certification from the prestigious Canadian company for having successfully passed”, said Executive Director of PRTC, Ingrid I. Rivera Rocafort. “Innovative measures like this will provide our tour operators and guide drivers internationally proven tools, which are pillars in the experience of our visitors as they are your first contact with the island, to have the ability to offer excellent service to cruise passengers. We are confident that this will attract more cruise ships and visitors to Puerto Rico, which will result in a greater boost to the country’s economy”, concluded the Director of Tourism.

Aquila’s Center for Cruise Excellence Certifications are endorsed by the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), which groups the largest cruise lines in the world.
