(SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico) – The executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC), Carla Campos and Sean Monahan, Director of Airport Operations for Frontier Airlines, announced today the start of new routes flying into San Juan from Long Island Islip (ISP) and Raleigh-Durham (RDU) airports. The ISP flight, starting on April 8th will be available daily while the RDU flight, starting on April 11th will be available on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Both routes will use Airbus A320 aircraft with seating for 180 passengers adding an estimated 33,000 visitors per year and creating an economic impact of $26,000,000.00 These flights are scheduled to operate until around September to November with the option of extending their operations after the initial 10-month period.

Furthermore, the airline’s Miami/San Juan route, scheduled to start last October and postponed due to Hurricane Maria, will start flying into San Juan on April 8. The daily flight, currently operated by American Airlines, will also use an Airbus A320 aircraft and bringing in an additional 17,700 passengers and $13,900,000.00 into local economy.

We are certain that we will continue to reach the milestones and goals established by Governor Ricardo Rosselló for our tourism industry and continue showcasing Puerto Rico as a unique Caribbean destination”, concluded PRTC’s Designated Executive Director.

Frontier Airlines Sean Monahan added, “Since we started flying into to San Juan last July, our “Low Fares. Done Right” campaign has been highly successful with our Puerto Rican custommers.
